Research for a Dance magazine! (Mixmag)

This is mixmag a magazine this is one of the largest Dance genre magazines and i chose to analyze this cover because it caters to the genre and audience roughly that i am intending to make my magazine for. This cover is based around the main artists individual style based on the colors and also the look of the artist as it is what the artist would usually look like. The magazine in fact is quite simple and yet still appealing and the color scheme and artist put together appeal to both and female audience members. I think that this magazines targets both male and female audiences aged about 18 - 25. I think that this magazine also appeals to males due to the type of magazine that this is (dance) and also due to the artist used on the cover as calvin harris is highly looked up by males mostly for his style and extraordinary music. Also his dress e.g. his sunglasses appeal to the males as it shows he has status and an influential body. This cover may also appeal to females due to the color scheme used. Furthermore it may also appeal to the female audience as calvin harris is also very popular in the music industry as he is well known therefore current fans will definitely take an interest in this magazine and some of these fans could be females.
The header on this magazine stands out therefore it is easily visible whilst not taking all the attention away from the main image on this magazine cover. The main image is an image of a very known artist called "calvin harris" and this image fits the magazine cover perfectly and the pose of the artist appeals to audiences as it denotes his importance. Also this artist is young, good looking and well known therefore the choice of artist suits this cover.
The mode of address on this magazine cover is INDIRECT address as calvin harris is looking away from the magazine and this makes the picture seem a bit more natural. The text on this magazine cover is very colorful and matches the dressing chosen by the artist and also the theme of the magazine even though it is kept simple.
